Singapore Covid-19 cases surpass 56,000

SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 93 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing its tally of infections to 56,031.

According to brief data released by the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH), six of the cases are imported and were placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

Based on its investigations so far, the ministry said there were two cases in the community, both being work pass holders.

The vast majority of the cases, meanwhile, involve work permit holders currently under quarantine.

In full data released late on Tuesday, the ministry said there were about 17,900 workers still serving out their quarantine period.

The republic classified 814 of its cases as imported, 2,207 as community transmissions, and 52,917 as dorm residents.

A total of 52,533 patients have fully recovered and were discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

Meanwhile, 88 confirmed cases are still in hospital but none in the intensive care unit.

A total of 3,290 patients who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19, have been isolated and are being cared for at community facilities.

To date, 27 people have died from complications due to Covid-19 in the republic. – Bernama
