SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has apologised on behalf of his wife who posted photos on her Instagram account of a tanker from Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) sending water supply to their official residence on Saturday.
He explained that his wife Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad’s act was to give thanks to the utility company for sending water to their house.
“My wife has apologised yesterday over what she had done and what she did was to convey her happiness towards the assistance provided by Air Selangor after waiting the whole day for the water supply to come.
“However, this matter has been used as capital by certain quarters to attack me. It is all right, me and my wife apologise,” he said after attending the 2021 Selangor State Budget Dialogue session, at Setia Alam today.
While her Instagram account is private, screenshots of two postings allegedly made by Masdiana found their way onto Twitter and Facebook, sparking angry comments.
Meanwhile, Amirudin is hopeful that the matter would not be prolonged and instead urged members of the public to refocus their attention on the water pollution issue that is taking place in Selangor.
On Thursday, Air Selangor stopped the operations at its Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phases 1, 2, and 3 and the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant due to industrial effluent pollution in Sg Gong, Rawang.
The restoration of water supply to over 1.2 million water account holders in 1,292 areas in the Klang Valley has since proceeded smoothly and is now at 73.37 per cent complete as of 6.30am today. Fully restoration is expected to take place on Wednesday.–NST
