KUALA LUMPUR: Firefighters fought flames for about half an hour to ensure that a fire that broke out in a condominium unit in Taman Dato Senu did not spread and cause more damage.
Operations commander Mohd Hafizan Hassan said the Fire and Rescue Department received a call on the incident at around 4.35pm on Tuesday (Aug 18) and sent a team of 13 firefighters from the Sentul and Gombak Selatan fire stations to the scene.
“When we arrived at around 4.45pm, we saw flames on the 11th floor of the condominium coming from a room there,” he said.
Hafizan said the team faced difficulties extinguishing the flames as the building’s hose reel system was not working.
He added that the team had to deploy offensive and defensive firefighting tactics to control the flames and were finally able to put out the fire at around 5.20pm.
Hafizan said the room was used as a storeroom and was 80% damaged in the fire.
There were no victims in the incident and the cause of the fire is being investigated.–TheStar
