MABA will be jointly operated 18 petrol stations with new petrol provider FIVE Petroleum

MABA President Datuk Wira Tan along with Presidential council members Dato’ Ooi Khoon Yeong, Dato’ Ng Choon Koon, Poh Thiam Kar and Internal Auditor Wong Kah Fu met with FIVE Managing Director, Dato’ Sri Dr. Lim Chin Fui, on Friday afternoon. Dato Sri Dr. Lim then informed MABA during the meeting that he would present 18 Five petroleum-operating licenses to MABA.

This is a great milestone for Malaysian Basketball, as our association can now partner with a committed corporate stakeholder to grow the sport.

Datuk Wira Tan said: “I am very excited and pleased about this cooperation and look forward to the results of the cooperation, which will bring Malaysia basketball to another milestone.”

In the mid 90’s, national petroleum provider, Petronas, supported Malaysian basketball through sponsorships, which helped set up academies and fund many national teams.

Five Petroleum was granted an operating license by the Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs in January 2020. The management team of FIVE is from the Seng Group of Companies, which has over 50 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and owns more than 300 petrol stations.

Currently, the company aims to open 50 FIVE petrol stations across the country within 2020, and aim for 100 petrol stations in next year. Dato, Sri Dr. Lim believes that FIVE has the ability to compete with other existing petrol providers to give consumers another service option.
