PETALING JAYA: It proved to be a costly night out for 310 people after they were slapped with RM1,000 compound each after they were caught partying at a club in Jalan PJU 7/3 Mutiara Damansara here early this morning.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said police rounded up 310 partygoers including 110 women and 10 foreign workers for flouting Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) during the raid.

A 29-year-old local man believed to be the employer of the 10 foreign workers was also picked-up during the raid.

“Ten officers and 19 personnel from the district headquarters raided three premises in Mutiara Damansara on suspicion that RMCO standard operating procedure were flouted last night.

“At the time, there were 200 men and 110 women, aged between 20 to 30 who breached the RMCO SOP at the club. Each of them was fined RM1,000, as stated in the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

“The foreigners aged 25 to 30 without work permits are being investigated under Section 39b of the Immigration Act 1959,” he said.

Nik Ezanee also said there seemed to be a decline in the level of compliance by individuals and business premises.

“PJ police has decided to increase its surveillance and take sterner against public who don’t follow SOPs. The compounds issued last night were also the highest number of compounds issued in one day,” he said.

He said police also seized electronic devices such as microphone, amplifier, turntable and cash about RM9,000 in the raid.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated narcotics bust, the district police also arrested 21 drug abusers including a woman in a series of raids at Desa Mentari, Taman Medan, Taman Datuk Hormat and Kampong Lindungan, here.

“Those picked up are all between 20 to 40 years old and are being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Police also seized 200ml of Ketum drink and about 15grams of syabu and ganja in the raids,” he said.
