KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has just left Istana Negeri after meeting up with the Yang DiPertua Negeri amid a push to topple the 26-month-old state government.
It is not clear what discussion was held between Shafie and Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
Shafie was seen with his deputies Datuk Jaujan Sambakong and Datuk Christina Liew returnng to his official house in Likas here at about 10.30pm.
He is believed to have met with Juhar for about 40mins to discuss the latest political development.
Shafie and leaders were huddled in discussion following a claim by arch political nemesis Tan Sri Musa Aman that he had enough assemblymen to form the state government on a simple majority in the 65 member house.
However, Warisan is claiming it still has the majority with 33 to 34 assemblymen.
As of 11pm, the political positions of two assemblymen remain unclear.
At 6.15pm on Wednesday (July 29), Musa said that he will be providing statutory declarations of the assemblymen supporting him.
It is understood that Shafie also has similar declarations from all of his 45 assemblymen amid speculations that some signed for both sides.
Speculation is growing that Shafie might consider asking the Yang DiPertua to dissolve the assembly to end the political impasse.
For now, supporters of Shafie were beginning to stream into his house while Musa remains at his Seri Anggerik residence in Luyang, near here.
Since 9pm, police have been controlling traffic moving into the Istana road at Signal Hill.
